do green | feel good

We Are Big Green Head!

This monster is on a mission to change your perception about going green. It’s not difficult, nor is it costly... in fact we think it's pretty cool. Start doing green and feeling good. Have you got something better to do?

Just Doin’ My Green Thing -- Week 43

Written by Karen
I never thought anyone would notice if I took a few weeks off from blogging. It’s not like laundry; skip a few days and the next thing you know the family’s going commando until the dryer’s done. So when I got busy in early spring with other Big Green Head duties, I let the writing go (and the laundry). And then one day I received an unexpected email from, dare I say... a fan? She wrote:

Hi there! I was just checking on you, as I love your blog, you’re so funny and have great ideas, but you haven’t written anything since the end of March. Hopefully everything is still ok?!?!

Marysville Oh

I’m happy to report that things are great! Big Green Head is dizzy with green projects and forward growth. Kate and I are wearing so many hats, I swear, we could open a millinery (had to look that one up).   But we love what we’re doing and we hope it shows. Here’s what we’ve been up to and the reason my blogging was temporarily abandoned:

Second annual Green on the Green

This is Kate’s and my baby (so to speak). It doubled in size this year, making more work for us, but more fun for the community. Here’s a recap for you to read more about it.

Coordinated our first e-waste drive

We worked with a local e-waste recycler, Environmental Reclaim, and the local High School, collecting 36,000 pounds of old electronics from the community! For more information, read our event press release.

Made it in the local paper

The Worthington Suburban News Publication ran my article entitled "Fill your bin with what recyclers want" in the commentary section. I’m going to be submitting monthly, so if you have any green topic ideas, please share them with me.

In fact, we appreciate any input as to how or what Big Green Head is or should be doing (some would call those suggestions and comments).

Now that BGH’s busy spring is over, I’m back to blogging and my domestic routines. Except for the laundry... my kids mistakenly started doing their own out of desperation. Now that I know their capable, I’m happy to remove that hat and pass it to them.
