Gel Laundry Detergent

Ingredients

  • ½ bar grated Ivory Soap
  • 2 cups Borax
  • ½ cup washing soda
  • 1 gallon plastic container with pour spout

Instructions

  • fill the gallon container 1/4 full with water
  • add grated soap and soak overnight (Quick method: cook water and grated soap on low heat until soap is melted)
  • Add washing soda, borax, and water to fill container; shake well before using.
  • Use ¾ cup per load
  • Soap will be lumpy, goopy and gel-like. This is normal. Just give it a good stir before using. Make sure soap is covered with a lid when not in use. You could also pour the homemade soap in old (and cleaned) laundry detergent bottles and shake well before each use.
  • Make a paste of washing soda and water to treat heavy stains
